All immigrants contribute to society but the Huguenots perhaps more than most: as bankers, occulists, clockmakers, weavers, scientists and horticulturists, they brought skills often surpassing those of the English. We will examine this cultural contribution; follow the story of the silk weavers of Spitalfields; and explain their influence on etiquette with the introduction of fashionable hot drinks, tea, coffee and chocolate!
