Who really was Caravaggio? So much has been written about Caravaggio the man, the artist, his impact and influence. Publications, films and articles have proliferated over the last forty years, sometimes creating confusion rather than clarification. The course will be an opportunity to look at what has been recently discovered and a chance to reappraise his life and work.
The lecture will cover early Influences and the Inspiration of Northern Italian Painters upon the young Caravaggio and his early Work 1593-1596. It will also look at Caravaggio’s career as an Independent Artist in Rome as well as Caravaggio’s Maturity in Rome and later his Career in Naples, Malta, Sicily and Naples.
Please note that the Zoom link will be sent out just before the lectures and that the lectures will not be recorded.
No cheques will be banked until the course has been completed.
