Bronzino spent all his life in Florence and from his late 30s worked as court painter to Cosimo I.  His elegant and intense portraits encapsulate the aspirations of the Grand Duke and his court.  Bronzino's exquisite religious works and complex but intriguing allegories are equally fascinating and need to be better known.
