A recently discovered self-portrait by the 17th century artist, Artemisia Gentileschi in the guise of St. Catherine, is the first painting by the artist to enter the National Gallery. The artist and the painting will be the subject of a major exhibition planned by the National Gallery for the spring and summer of 2020 and the study day will be an opportunity to reassess the life and art of this outstanding woman painter, who worked in Rome, Florence, Venice, England and Naples.
